Three groups of participants participated in this study (n = 323): a) external group (n = 263): men - 79 (30.0%), women - 184 (70.0%), with an average age of 34.5 years (SD = 11.1). External group participants were divided into three age categories: 17–25 years (n = 74); 26-49 years (n = 154) and 50-64 years (n = 33); b) employees of correctional institution (Alytus Correctional Institution) (n = 30): 15 (50%) men and 15 (50%) women with the average age of 36.6 years (SD = 9.9). c) police officers (n = 30): 23 (76.7%) men and 7 (23.3%) women with an average age of 31.3 years (SD = 7.7). A questionnaire on the image of Correctional Institutions and their employees was used in this study. The version of the questionnaire consists of 35 statements and the second part of the questionnaire about the sociodemographic characteristics. A statistically significant difference was found in how the three groups perceived correctional institutions and their employees. A statistically significant interaction was also found between group type and the level of education.
