The aim of the work is to determine which methods of creating the sun image are used in the communication channel - the website. 465 text entries, 168 photographs in ten website content sections and subheadings are analyzed. The use of graphic and colour design elements is evaluated as well. The posts published since May 1st , 2020. until April 1st , 2021, are analyzed in the news section. The aim of the quantitative content analysis method was to assess the distribution and use of characters that convey the desired meaning in the content of the website. The results of the study showed that all three categories of the Peirce sign model – icons, indexes and symbols – are used to create the sun image in the textual content of the website. Most fixed indexes and icons, and least symbols. It was observed that the highest concentration of characters is seen in a particularly small number of records. This describes more fragmented than sequential the sun image communication. Some elements of the content created by the site administrator show a tendentious and controlled use of characters in the image communication. In the content of external entities, practically all communication of the sun image is random, fragmented, spontaneous. The signs or connotations which create the sun image meaning are found in less than half of the photographs. The representational photos in website front page are not effectively exploited for the sun image creation and communication. The essential and practically the only graphic element used is the yellow circle, in the Peirce sign triangle – an icon or a symbol. The communication of the sun image using a graphic element is accentuated, noticeable, but not excessive. The main colour to be highlighted in website design solutions is yellow. Judging by the categories of Peirce signs, this would be closest to the symbol. The choice of colour is understandable and reasonable. Based on the results obtained, it can be stated that the functional solutions of the website, which are used by the website users, strengthen the communication of the sun image through graphics and colours.","abstract_html":"The sun image communication in Šiauliai city tourism website is analyzed in the bachelor's thesis.
