Public attitude towards the educational significance of rugby Rugby is one of the most popular sports in the world. In terms of the number of national federations, it is second only to beach volleyball and football. Rugby is estimated to be played in 98 countries, with 8.5 million people. The sport, characterized by deep historical and cultural traditions, is also called the "gentlemen's game" and is rapidly gaining popularity in Lithuania. The educational significance of sport has recently been extensively studied by researchers around the world, with data showing a positive impact of physical activity and sport on various components of quality of life. Attitudes are important factors in determining a person’s involvement in sport. This research of the bachelor's thesis aims to find an answer to the problematic question - what is the attitude of the Lithuanian society to the sport of rugby and its educational significance? The object of the study - is the attitude of Lithuanian society to the educational significance of rugby. The aim of the study - is to explore the attitude of Lithuanian society to the educational significance of rugby. The following research methods were used in the work: 1. Analysis of scientific literature. 2. Questionnaire survey of closed type items. 3. Descriptive mathematical statistics. Main conclusions. From the subjects' point of view, passion for sports, unity and friendship are the best values that rugby cultivates. Respondents consider endurance, strength and agility to be the most improved physical properties of rugby. In assessing the educational impact of rugby on personal qualities, the subjects distinguished courage, self-confidence, and perseverance. Collaborative skills, the ability to make decisions, and to overcome challenges were singled out by respondents as the most rugby-developed skills. For the study participants, rugby seems to be an interesting, masculine, inclusive sport. Women are more positive than men about the educational impact of rugby on values, physical characteristics, personal qualities and skills. Respondents with experience in playing rugby are much more positive about the impact of rugby on value development. Opinions of playful and non-playful participants about the educational impact of rugby on personal characteristics, physical characteristics and skills were very similiar.
