Clinical and Morphological Features of Periodontium in the Aesthetic Zone of the Maxilla /// Клинико-морфологични особености на пародонта в естетичния участък на горната челюст
Abstract
dc:descriptionThe main goal of contemporary dental treatment is to achieve optimal white and pink aesthetics, especially in aesthetic areas of the dentition. The clinical and morphological features of the periodontium, such as interdental papillary height, periodontal biotype, tooth form, smile line, gingival recessions, height and thickness of alveolar bone, are described as key factors for successful aesthetic outcome in periodontal, implant and prosthetic dental therapy. Because of the advanced regenerative surgical methods for both soft and hard tissues, compromises are unacceptable for aesthetic result of dental treatment in the aesthetic area of the maxilla. This thesis aims to investigate the variations in clinical and morphological features of the periodontium which are crucial for assessing the aesthetic risk and the healing result of the regenerative and implant surgical treatment and for the prosthetic treatment. We assessed the clinical and morphological features of periodontium in the aesthetic zone of maxilla and a thorough analysis and comparison of the results in variations by sex and age are done. Aesthetic parameters are defined for easier identification of patients when dental therapy has a high risk of negative aesthetic outcome. This study helps to properly analyse preoperatively patients in treatment planning and to assess the individual risk profile and level of difficulty of the planned treatment, to provide not only good prognosis for implants survival but also better prediction of the aesthetic outcome of treatment.
