Comparative Analysis of Techniques for Opening the Anterior Abdominal Wall in Cesarean Section: Misgav Ladach Vs. Pfannenstiel // Сравнителен анализ на техниките за отваряне на предна коремна стена при цезарово сечение: Misgav Ladach и Pfannenstiel
Abstract
dc:descriptionCesarean section is a widely used method of operative delivery, and its increasing frequency necessitates optimisation of surgical techniques in order to reduce operative trauma, blood loss, and postoperative complications. The thesis aims to conduct a comparative analysis of the techniques for opening the anterior abdominal wall in cesarean section—Misgav Ladach and Pfannenstiel-Kerr—and to determine the advantages of the Misgav Ladach method. The study was designed as a retrospective and prospective analysis of 327 women who underwent cesarean delivery at Prof. Dr. D. Stamatov Specialised Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Varna, during the period 2019–2023, divided into a study group and a control group. Key operative parameters were analysed, including time to fetal extraction, total operative time, intraoperative blood loss, as well as the influence of body mass index and previous abdominal surgeries. The results demonstrate statistically significant shorter time to fetal extraction, lower blood loss, and shorter operative time with the Misgav Ladach technique compared to the Pfannenstiel-Kerr method. The obtained results have important practical implications and support the application of the Misgav Ladach technique as a more efficient and tissue-sparing approach to operative delivery.
