A comprehensive analysis of patients with lymph node diseases of the head and neck, hospitalised and treated at the Clinic of Maxillofacial Surgery at St. Marina University Hospital – Varna, Bulgaria, for a ten-year period (2015-2024), was carried out. The patients were distributed into nine main diagnostic groups. The demographic characteristics of the studied contingent were compared by clinical diagnosis, gender, age, and the dynamics of cases over time, as well as by treatment type (operative or conservative). Special attention was paid to acute purulent infectious diseases of the lymph nodes, and the bacterial pathogens and their etiological spectrum were studied. Based on the microbiological studies conducted, a detailed analysis of antibiotic resistance was made, with an emphasis on differences by gender and age. The thesis also examines the metastatic involvement of the cervical lymph nodes, which is of key importance for the diagnosis, staging and treatment of malignant diseases in the maxillofacial region. Извършен е цялостен анализ на хоспитализирани пациенти с болести на лимфните възли на главата и шията, преминали през Клиниката по лицево-челюстна хирургия към УМБАЛ „Св. Марина“ ЕАД – гр. Варна, България за десетгодишен период (2015-2024 г.), като същите бяха разпределени в девет основни диагностични групи. Демографските особености на изследвания контингент са сравнени по клинична диагноза, пол, възраст, динамиката на случаите във времето, вид на проведеното лечение (оперативно или консервативно). Специално внимание е отделено на острите гнойни инфекциозни заболявания на лимфните възли, като са проучени бактериалните причинители и техният етиологичен спектър. Въз основа на проведените микробиологични изследвания е направен подробен анализ на антибиотичната резистентност, с акцент върху различията по пол и възраст. В дисертацията се разглежда също така метастатичното ангажиране на цервикалните лимфни възли, което има ключово значение за диагностицирането, стадирането и лечението на злокачествени заболявания в лицево-челюстната област.
