The aim is to create an up-to-date \"microbiological map\" for the region, supporting the optimisation of local therapeutic protocols and the fight against antimicrobial resistance. The study employs a retrospective, observational, and descriptive design, based on the analysis of 1735 microbiological results from samples (pus, aspirates, wound secretions) obtained from patients with a clinical diagnosis of MFR abscess or phlegmon. Each isolated pathogenic microorganism was recorded as a separate isolate. Samples were divided into odontogenic (n=1033) and non-odontogenic (n=702) infections, and temporal analysis was conducted across two 5-year periods (2015-2019 and 2020-2024). Microbiological methods include standard inoculation onto culture media (blood agar, chocolate agar) and incubation under aerobic, microaerophilic, and anaerobic conditions, followed by identification through macro- and micromorphological characteristics, Gram staining, and biochemical tests. Statistical analysis utilised descriptive statistics (absolute frequencies and relative proportions). The goals include: determining the overall etiological structure of infections; conducting a comparative analysis of the microbiological profile in odontogenic and non-odontogenic origins; tracking the dynamics of the main causative agents over time (before and after the Covid-19 pandemic); and analysing the frequency of polymicrobial infections and samples without a proven causative agent, discussing the possible reasons. Целта е създаване на актуална „микробиологична карта“ за региона, подпомагаща оптимизирането на локалните терапевтични протоколи и борбата с антимикробната резистентност. Изследването е с ретроспективен, наблюдателен и описателен дизайн, базиран на анализ на 1735 микробиологични резултата от проби (гной, пунктати, раневи секрети) от пациенти с клинична диагноза абсцес или флегмон в ЛЧО. Всеки изолиран патогенен микроорганизъм е отчетен като отделен изолат. Пробите са разделени на одонтогенни (n=1033) и неодонтогенни (n=702) инфекции, а времевият анализ е проведен в два 5-годишни периода (2015-2019 г. и 2020-2024 г.). Микробиологичните методи включват стандартно посяване върху хранителни среди (кръвен агар, шоколадов агар) и инкубация при аеробни, микроаерофилни и анаеробни условия, последвана от идентификация чрез макро- и микроморфологични характеристики, оцветяване по Грам и биохимични тестове. Статистическият анализ използва описателна статистика (абсолютни честоти и относителни дялове). Задачите включват: определяне на общата етиологична структура на инфекциите; сравнителен анализ на микробиологичния профил при одонтогенен и неодонтогенен произход; проследяване динамиката на основните причинители във времето (преди и след пандемията от Covid-19); и анализ на честотата на полимикробните инфекции и пробите без доказан причинител, обсъждайки възможните причини.
