Optimizing Health Care Activities in Coronary Vascular Procedures /// Оптимизиране на здравните грижи и дейности при коронарно-съдови процедури
Abstract
dc:descriptionThe aim of the dissertation is to increase nurses’ competences and to improve patients’ awareness about coronary vascular procedures thus optimizing health care activities. For the purpose of the experimental study we have developed a сomplex program to optimize healthcare and activities in coronary-vascular procedures targeting both nurses working in invasive cardiovascular diagnosis departments and patients hospitalized in the same wards. In order to increase skills and competencies of nurses a program has been developed and a postgraduate training course has been carried out. In order to raise patients’ awareness and satisfaction, a patient information brochure and an adapted and dubbed Bulgarian video film on the essence of invasive cardiovascular procedures, pre-treatment and post-treatment health care has been developed. Based on the experiment, we found a positive change in the main modifiable risk factors for cardiovascular disease (physical activity, healthy diet and smoking) in patients, as well as improving self-control and motivation to respect a healthy lifestyle. The HADS-A Hospital Anxiety Record has shown a reduction in patient anxiety. The training of nurses is effective and the participants have acquired the necessary basic specialized knowledge, skills and competencies taken into account in the testing and practical control. None are rated below the minimum required level of competence.
