Psychological Aspects of Gambling Behaviour // Психологически аспекти на хазартното поведение
Abstract
dc:descriptionThe current psychological analysis of gambling behaviour (GB) is based on the need to identify a characteristic pattern of behaviour, considered not so much in its pathological form, but rather before it. The author's idea is related to the study of predictors embedded to one degree or another in each individual. This requires, first of all, to formulate a specific model of GB, and summarize the indicators for its formation. The thesis research is an attempt to answer many current questions related to the specific type of behaviour based on specificity. To achieve this goal, the Methodology for Gambling Behavior Screening (MSGB) was constructed. The main task was to identify the most subtle, sensitive parameters that, under certain conditions, could expose the object of research to increased risk. This kind of tolerant attitude is interpreted as a potential predisposition. Based on the characteristics obtained in this way, a profile was compiled of persons who exhibit GB in some form, which subsequently carries the risk of problem behaviour and the development of addiction. The test battery includes two more methods for identifying and analyzing the factors that determine this behaviour. Correlation and factor analysis of the MSGB was performed. The sensitivity-specificity ratios versus the ROC curve area of the variables, the reliability score, and the adequacy measure were obtained with near-optimal results.
