Application of Videofluoroscopy for Evaluation of the Neohypopharynx In Patients Following Laryngectomy // Приложение на видеофлуороскопията за оценка на неохипофаринкса при пациенти след ларингектомия
Abstract
dc:descriptionThe research aimed to evaluate the possibilities and role of videofluoroscopy in the early and late postoperative period, as well as for the follow-up of patients following laryngectomy. To achieve this goal, a standardised protocol was developed for contrast-enhanced videofluoroscopy of the upper digestive tract in laryngectomized patients. The possibilities of videofluoroscopy to study the integrity of the neohypopharyngeal reconstruction in the early postoperative period were evaluated. The role of videofluoroscopy in optimising therapeutic behaviour in early and late neohypopharyngeal reconstruction insufficiencies after laryngectomy was evaluated. The role of videofluoroscopy in vocal rehabilitation of laryngectomized patients with voice prostheses and dysphagia and late complications in laryngectomized patients was investigated. Based on medical documentation, indicators related to surgical treatment and early and late postoperative complications in laryngectomized patients were studied. The applicability of videofluoroscopy for the preoperative assessment of the local status and the selection of the size of the voice prosthesis was studied in patients undergoing treatment for voice rehabilitation with a voice prosthesis. The probability of developing stenosis in the area of the neohypopharynx in patients undergoing postoperative radiotherapy was also analysed.
