Electronic System for Midwifery Care Management in Outpatient Care // Електронна система за управление на акушерската грижа в извънболничната помощ
Abstract
dc:descriptionThe thesis aims to investigate and optimise the management of midwifery care by developing a methodology for integrating an electronic midwifery record into medical software. We hypothesise that the midwifery record, based on the nursing process implementation model, enables systematisation and continuity of care, the unfolding of the full midwifery potential of knowledge and skills, and the control and accountability of professional activities. The electronic midwifery record we created is one of the options for managing midwifery care through an electronic system. We selected an appropriate database management system (DBMS). A DBMS is a set of computer programs controlling database construction, maintenance and use. It includes documentation specific to obstetric activities and supports tracking over time of problems encountered, interventions implemented and outcomes achieved. For administration purposes, there are modules for 'Physicians', 'Midwives' and 'Patients'. The midwifery record consists of several elements, each addressing a specific segment of midwifery competencies. It enables the documentation of care provided through the following forms: basic sheet, care plan, home visit, breastfeeding consultation.
