Multimodal Imaging Documentation in Dental Medicine // Мултимодално образно документиране в денталната медицина
Abstract
dc:descriptionThe dental industry has made significant efforts in its quest to create means of obtaining models that closely replicate the intraoral conditions of patients. Conventional impression materials, specifically elastomeric impressions, have proven over the years to be exceptionally reliable tools, both for generating diagnostic models and for creating prosthetic constructions. With the advent of new technologies, particularly intraoral scanners, an alternative method for creating models emerged, shifting the focus of researchers towards them. Intraoral scanners have been on the market for over 40 years and have evolved significantly from the first systems to the ones available today. However, there is still a need for studies regarding their accuracy and reliability in different clinical situations despite the encouraging results and advantages of our work with them. Technological progress outpaces the accumulation of information on issues that directly affect dental practitioners, as new intraoral scanning systems appear every year, making it challenging to conduct studies for each one. Cone-beam computed tomography is perhaps the most innovative invention in dental imaging diagnostics. This modality not only conducts comprehensive radiographic analysis but also allows us to generate 3D models. Data on the application, advantages, and limitations of models generated this way are still extremely limited and require research to gather enough information before they become routine in dental practitioners' practices.
