Adhesion of Dental Ceramic to Ti6Al4V Alloy Fabricated by CAD/CAM Technologies // Адхезия на дентална керамика към сплав Ti6Al4V, произведена чрез CAD/CAM технологии
Abstract
dc:descriptionThe thesis aims to investigate the properties and adhesion of dental ceramics to Ti6Al4V alloy produced by modern CAD/CAM technologies: milling and selective laser melting (SLM). Conventional and standard methods are used to investigate the geometric characteristics, density and hardness, morphology and surface roughness of the metal samples made by both technologies. The modulus of elasticity was determined using a newly developed methodology consisting of experiment and Finite Element Analysis (FEA). Adhesion strength was determined experimentally according to standard ISO 9693 and FEA. It has been confirmed that the adhesion strength of porcelain to Ti6Al4V alloy made by milling and SLM has close values: 17.63 – 30.89 MPa and 22.12 – 31.04 MPa, respectively. The influence of different surface treatments – sandblasting, a layer of bonding agent and combined (sandblasting and bond) on the adhesion strength and the fracture mechanism of the porcelain coating was established. Sandblasting and combined treatment increase the adhesion strength of the porcelain to the milled samples but decrease it in the SLM ones. It has been confirmed that the failure of the ceramics occurs by a mixed adhesion-cohesion mechanism, with a difference in the layer in which the adhesion or cohesion failure occurs. Laboratory protocols have been developed for the fabrication of metal-ceramic fixed partial dentures with Ti6Al4V produced by milling and SLM.
