Effectiveness and Perspectives of Simulation Technologies in the Education and Training of Health Professional Students / Ефективност и перспективи на симулационните технологии в обучението на студенти от здравни специалности

The thesis aims to explore the opinions of students in medicine and dentistry, as well as their lecturers, regarding the results of the effective application of modern simulation technologies (ST) in the course of studies at the Medical University "Prof. Dr. Paraskev Stoyanov" – Varna. The basic methods are documentary, survey and statistical. The following studies were carried out: the opinion of medical and dental students as well as lecturers of obstetrics and gynaecology was investigated in relation to their attitudes and experience of SBT application; an experimental study was performed among medical students on "management of childbirth"; a qualitative analysis was made among experts in the field of SBT application in modern higher medical education. Participants showed satisfactory awareness and confirmed the undoubted advantages of ST in developing clinical skills and competencies. Conducting simulation-based training (SBT) in the speciality of Obstetrics and Gynecology leads to a higher success rate and better skills. Students are satisfied with recreating different clinical conditions when using the medical simulators during their training, establishing the need for greater use of ST during practical sessions. The main barriers to the wide application of ST have been identified as well, and the potential for advancement in medical student education have been outlined in detail.
