Comparative Study of the Effects of Conventional Physiotherapeutic Complex and High-Energy Laser in Patients with Glenohumeral Joint Peritendinitis // Сравнително проучване на ефектите на конвенционален физиотерапевтичен комплекс и високоенергиен лазер при пациенти с перитендинит на гленохумерална става

The purpose of the present investigation is to evaluate the therapeutical effects, in terms of pain reduction and mobility improvement, of Multiwave Locked System (MLS) laser energy treatment and the combined therapy of microwave diathermy and interference current, in patients with glenohumeral joint peritendinitis. Data from 76 patients with acute glenohumeral joint peritendinitis were prospectively collected. The patients were randomized into two groups in a 1:1 ratio: a group was treated with MLS laser therapy (group A) and a group with microwave diathermy and interferential current therapy (group B). The primary endpoints were: shoulder movement (flexion, abduction and external rotation), - spontaneous and palpatory VAS and SPADI. Examinations were carried out before starting the treatment, after the therapeutic cycle completion and at follow-up: 45 days after the beginning of therapy. At the end of treatment and mid-term follow-up, the patients in group A presented a significant improvement in both palpatory pains and SPADI values. At follow-up, among the same patients, the most significant improvement of humeral joint flexion, palpatory pain VAS and SPADI values were detected. Both therapies have been proven effective and safe in glenohumeral joint peritendinitis treatment. In particular, the application of MLS® laser treatment presented the most effective and durable therapeutic effects.
