System of Indicators for Measuring and Evaluating the Quality of Healthcare in Bulgaria // Система от показатели за измерване и оценка на качеството на здравеопазване в България
Abstract
dc:descriptionThis dissertation aims to create a system of criteria and indicators for measuring and evaluating the quality of healthcare in Bulgaria. The purpose of a dissertation requires that a construct is adequate to theoretical concepts and that international best practices have been chosen. In this regard, the general scientific methods of analysis, synthesis, systematization, and summarization of • the scientific literature's understanding of the quality of healthcare, its components, approaches, and tools for measurement and evaluation; • the content of current normative documents used to ensure the quality of the healthcare sector in Bulgaria; and • the available data published in reports and expert analyses on the state of healthcare. Two sociological surveys have been conducted to investigate citizens' and medical professionals' attitudes, perceptions, and information needs about quality and its measurement. The results of the analyses and sociological surveys form the basis of the proposed system of indicators for measuring and assessing healthcare quality in Bulgaria. The system's ultimate goal is to provide opportunities for effective quality management at the national and medical institution levels.
