Abstract

dc:description

Iatrogenic complications due to prosthetic treatment with partial and complete acrylic dentures arc a serious problem for dentists. The variety of factors causing them complicates diagnosis. The most common complications of the oral mucosa and residual ridge of the prosthetic field, damages to the periodontium and hard dental tissues of the abutment teeth, the most common clinical and laboratory mistakes, as well as the materials used for fabrications acrylic dentures are examined. A set of instructions for precise diagnosis and treatment plan in such cases is compiled and put forth. The necessity of allergic tests to dental materials is confirmed in cases of specific individual complaints due to oral allergic syndrome, but no professional allergic diagnostics has been carried out. A prototype of a device for injection molding of acrylics is designed and constructed. It modifies the existing injection molding technology used in denture fabrication. The serial production of partial and complete acrylic dentures is possible by dividing the processes of injection molding and acrylic polymerization by introducing a sealed lid replacing the pressure of the pneumatic cylinder. In addition to standard capsules, capsules with different volume could be used. This could reduce the waste of materials. A method for fixing the wire wrought clasps is proposed so that partial acrylic dentures with wire wrought clasps could be fabricated with injection molding technique. In this way the application of the injection molding of acrylics is expanded; another type of prosthetic restorations could be produced. The serial mode of the device optimizes the time and cost of fabrication. A standard for minimum adhesion in upper complete acrylic dentures is proposed - 13N when conventional cuvette technique is used for fabrication of such dentures, as well as 15.5N when injection molding technology is used.
