The antioxidant activity of Bulgarian medicinal plants // Проучване на антиоксидантната активност на български лечебни растения

Abstract

dc:description

[EN] In vitro antioxidant activity of extracts and fractions from 54 medicinal plants with application in Bulgarian traditional medicine is the subject of this study. By analysis of the results obtained, one plant was chosen to examine its extract antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity in experiments with cell cultures and of experimental animal models. Effect of extract from Agrimonia eupatoria on markers of the redox balance in serum and tissue homogenates was studied in experimental animals. The effect of Agrimonia eupatoria extract on redox sensitive genes expression in nonstimulated and oxidatively stimulated cell cultures was studied, as well as in experimental animals fed standard diet and in a model of fructose induced metabolic disorders.
