The study is based upon the examination of existing local and central government documents relating to the evacuation, local and national contemporary news reports on the same and the oral and written testimonies of evacuees, foster parents and contemporary observers. The experience of Pembrokeshire is compared with that of other regions of Britain using a variety of secondary sources and is placed in its economic, cultural and war time context.
