The current standard of treatment is neoadjuvant therapy; however there is a limited ability to monitor tumor response to this treatment. This study looks at two innovative approaches to monitoring tumor response: measurement of plasma osteopontin (OPN) levels and three dimensional ultrasound imaging (3D US). Using our laboratory’s in house ELISA, we found that 39% of LABC patients had plasma OPN levels elevated above the normal healthy range of I23ng/ml (Bramwell,20o6). Over treatment this percent increased, such that at final cycle, 63% patients had elevated OPN levels.
