One Health Rapid Response Teams (OHRRTs) composed of human, animal, and environmental health professionals provide a mechanism for countries to respond to OH threats. OBJECTIVE: This review evaluates the existing literature about multisectoral OHRRTs globally and considers OHRRTs within the context of Viet Nam. METHODS: This review conforms to PRISMA guidelines. Peer-reviewed scientific manuscripts and grey literature pertinent to OHRRTs published in 2013-2023 were reviewed using the screening tool Covidence. Two members of the review team performed a title and abstract screen, and a full text review was conducted to assess records for relevance to multisectoral, OHRRTs. Data about OHRRT deployment, composition, response partners, and funding mechanisms were extracted for review. Findings were discussed generally and with specific consideration to Viet Nam. RESULTS: Of 9,421 records screened, 31 were ultimately included for analysis. The majority of articles focused on one country (n=23, 74.2%). No records were identified specific to OHRRTs in Viet Nam, though Viet Nam has relied on provincial RRTs to address other public health threats. Most OHRRTs were deployed for outbreaks or isolated cases of a zoonotic or vector-borne disease (n=21, 67.7%) or the potential for an epidemic of such diseases (n=6, 19.4%). OHRRTs were found to be typically funded through a mixture of governmental budget and external aid. Significant variation was found in how OHRRTs were trained. All studies included highlighted the need for increased multisectoral, One Health collaboration. Other common recommendations included the need to increase One Health funding, improve healthcare infrastructure, and develop training programs for postgraduate students and professionals to develop One Health capacity. CONCLUSIONS: There is a wide range in how OHRRTs are operationalized globally.
