The number of hip fractures in the US is expected to increase with the aging of the population in the coming years; by 2040, 500,000 patients annually will sustain a hip fracture. Better understanding of factors impacting outcomes after hip fractures can inform the health care work force, facilitate future interventions to improve outcomes for patients with hip fractures and inform future health policy.
