The data are collected in the hope that this knowledge will enable medical teams and patients to work together to improve the outcomes of rehabilitation interventions. Though the main outcome measures for both datasets were meticulously devised and demonstrate good psychometric properties; the question remains whether or not these measures collect data that encompass the entire experience of burn patients over time. Are there areas that are not being explored? Are there topics that would be better understood with more in-depth probing? The World Health Organization’s International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) is a classification system widely used to examine the depth and breadth of outcome measures in many areas. However, its application in the field of burn recovery has been minimal.
