Picture This: Archiving an Artist’s Personal Photograph Collection

<p>Physical photographs, however fragile they may be, are an important part of the historical record and provide visual documentation to events in people’s lives. Properly storing and documenting a photograph collection is essential to safeguarding a long life for the collection so it can be enjoyed by generations to come. Photograph collections that belong to well-known figures, including artists, are always of great interest to the public as well as researchers and scholars. This capstone project outlines and details the process needed in order to archive an artist’s personal photograph collection. It discusses the importance of properly preserving and storing physical photographs and some of the legal challenges that may arise when working with a collection of this nature. </p>
