El proceso de vinculación afectiva de madres de hijos con Síndrome de Down

La presente investigación describe el proceso de vinculación afectiva de madres de hijos con síndrome de Down de 0 a 3 años. Se desarrolló un estudio de enfoque cualitativo con diseño fenomenológico. Se empleó la técnica de la entrevista semiestructurada para la obtención de la información. Participaron 10 madres con edades entre los 20 a 40 años, cuyos primeros hijos fueron diagnosticados con síndrome de Down. A través del análisis temático, los datos se organizaron en 3 ejes temáticos: Etapa de embarazo, etapa posterior al parto y etapa posterior al nacimiento. Los principales resultados indican que el proceso de vinculación afectiva inicia en la etapa de embarazo, donde las madres idealizan la imagen que tendrán sus hijos al nacer, llenas de expectativas y deseos. Además, el diagnóstico de síndrome de Down configura una nueva realidad inesperada para las madres, esta noticia les genera transitar por etapas emocionales. En ese sentido, se concluye que el proceso de vinculación afectiva de las madres se fortalece gracias a sus propios recursos personales, la red de apoyo y los logros en el desarrollo de los bebés con síndrome de Down.The present research describes the affective bonding process of mothers of children with Down syndrome aged from 0 to 3 years. A qualitative study with a phenomenological design was developed. The semi-structured interview technique was used to obtain the information. Ten mothers between 20 and 40 years of age, whose first children were diagnosed with Down syndrome, participated in the study. Through the thematic analysis, the data were organized into 3 thematic axes: Pregnancy stage, postpartum stage and post-birth stage. The main results indicate that the affective bonding process begins in the pregnancy stage, where mothers idealize the image that their children will have at birth, full of expectations and desires. In addition, the diagnosis of Down syndrome configures a new unexpected reality for the mothers, this news generates them to go through emotional stages. In this sense, it is concluded that the affective bonding process of mothers is strengthened with their own personal resources, the support network and the achievements in the development of babies with Down syndrome.
