Jessy answers questions about the game rules, suggests the next best move considering the player’s state, and informs the player about the important events within the game. An explanatory study showed that Jessy assistant was helpful in general. The study insights were integrated into a new version of the chatbot called SoulsBot, which was then compared against a basic tutorial for learning how to play Dark Souls – The Board Game. The usability of both tools was above the conventional standard. The participants had mostly positive experience and found the game difficult to learn using either tool. However, they also found both tools very helpful. Most participants preferred the tutorial, followed by a combined approach. None of the tools in isolation was found effective for learning the game. There were indications that a combined approach could work best.","abstract_html":"We first present Jessy, a chatbot for tutoring The Royal Game of Ur.
