Automated Grease Dispenser

Abstract

dc:description.abstract

As part of a larger group, Gordon and Sean were tasked with replacing the current system of grease lubrication currently in use during forging at Arconic Engines in Verdi, Nevada. The senior project established a design for which the current method of swabbing grease onto the drive roll of the mill could be replaced with an automated lubrication system to spray the grease. The new system was designed to be controlled by the operator of the forge machinery to decrease hazard to workers, decrease set-up time for each rolling operation, and increase repeatability throughout the manufacturing process. At the end of the project, the design was finalized to the approval of the customer, Arconic Engines. The basic skeleton of the system was then manufactured and is to be installed on the machinery as soon as possible.
