Using data from the Cabinet records of Eden's Egypt Committee, this research will demonstrate that Eden and the Egypt Committee acted irrationally during the Suez Crisis and by doing so created a schism in the Atlantic Alliance. This rift would force President Dwight Eisenhower to side with the Soviet Union against Britain to resolve the conflict.
