<p>What follows is a short story manuscript by Christina Marie Glessner. Each of the stories take place in a fictionalized version of the authors hometown, Carbondale, in northeastern Pennsylvania, home of the first underground coal mines in the nation. The stories explore life in a town wrought by violence and environmental degradation.'</p>
