From the shtetl to the screen: The development of Yiddish theatre in performance

dc:description.abstractThis submission comprises a survey of Jewish drama as expressed through Yiddish Theatre in performance. It explores the origins, early trends, and significant works of Yiddish drama. The reader will gain an understanding of the ways in which the Jewish religion guided the emergence of Yiddish Theatre, the heights of achievement in the form, the decline of Yiddish Theatre, and some of the influences such development has had on the theatre world today.
