Interpretation of cone penetration test data for underconsolidated clay
Abstract
dc:description.abstractIn this study, cone penetration test data is correlated to vane shear and triaxial undrained shear strength test data for a saturated and underconsolidated marine clay. It is shown that cone penetration test data not corrected for pore pressures underestimates undrained shear strength. Additionally, small increases in the degree of consolidation of the underconsolidated clay increases the undrained shear strengths.
