The thesis will attempt to show that past failures in 'land for peace' agreements between Israel and Arab countries only illustrate what is in store for the Oslo Accords. In addition, the current Israeli administration's failure to concede the disputed land in the occupied territories is in part, due to the fear of an emerging Palestinian state on the West Bank and Gaza Strip. The dangers of an independent Palestinian state will be examined, both the strategic and geographic implications, and some economic difficulties the Israelis will be faced with.
