Sorbents were prepared by bonding aminopropyl groups to a substrate (silica gel or filters) and then reacting with alkyl or aryl substituted sulfonyl chloride to produce the corresponding surface bound sulfonamide. Silica gel surfaces were investigated for collection efficiency using synthetic laboratory gas mixtures. After satisfactory collection efficiencies were demonstrated, sampling and analytical procedures were developed for analysis of air in the vicinity of a swimming pool.
