A chronological and evolutionary base for the concept of cognitive dissonance was provided through an extensive, but pointed, review of literature; A survey in two parts was used to determine the existence of cognitive dissonance. The first part consisted of a ten factors instrument, previously administered, to identify management misperceptions. The second part of the survey consisted of a follow-up interview in which employees were allowed to give their opinions in their own words; Along with the literature review and survey results, the study includes a discussion of Dr Gerald Goll's Management By Values construct which was used to assess the organizational environment of the selected property.
