The terminal need to be able to meet the increasing passenger demands while maintaining easy circulation. The approach taken for this thesis builds upon considerations of the sequences of passenger flow; This thesis, investigates and analyzes major terminal configurations that have been commonly used in practice. Then it examines four centralized terminal configurations with respect to the average passenger walking distance. It briefly examines the configuration of three existing air terminals in the U.S.A. The three airports are: Sacramento Metro Airport (east terminal), Reno Cannon International Airport, Tucson International Airport. The overall objective of this thesis is to develop an efficient design, considering passenger walking distance, for a hypothetical airport terminal for Jerusalem. Information obtained from these three case studies is then used as a basis to develop the specific areal requirements and spatial relationships of the various functional elements in the design of the proposed Jerusalem International Airport.
