However, no single computer model is currently available to permit an integrated analysis that provides effective graphical display of results and product generation. One model available for analysis related to the transport of hazardous material is Radtran. Radtran requires difficult to obtain data and its outputs are presented in a tabular format. A travel demand model, such as Tranplan, can provide some of the data required for Radtran analysis, but the format of its output is not in a form Radtran can readily use. For outputs, a geographic information system (GIS) can provide an effective means for graphical display of results and product generation. The objectives of this Thesis are to develop programs and procedures linking Radtran and Tranplan in a GIS environment (ARC-INFO) to facilitate the movement of data, provide graphical display of results and provide product generation.
