Abstract
dc:description.abstractThis hybrid collection of poems and essays explores hunger and desire through the lens of a ravenous woman. I wrote Rubber Tummy to grant women the freedom to talk about eating, sex, and indulgence outside the current cultural limitations, which ask that these desires be small, infrequent, and quiet. My collection also explores the mystic nature of sharing food and the way we all discover our own gods and beliefs through trivial and ordinary acts. How we are willing to stretch and shrink our desires, when we choose to indulge, and why we should start with curiosity rather than judgment.
