flourishes (2012.13) for chamber orchestra was composed for the Summer Music Institute at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa, Ontario. The title serves as a description for the active woodwind parts and large scale orchestral gestures that are featured prominently throughout the piece in virtuosic and rhapsodic figures. The entire work was composed using a single vertical sonority based on major and minor thirds and minor seconds
