Political scientists have made great strides with regard to the consequences of race in American politics, and my dissertation tests whether ethnicity is similarly consequential. My focus on political ideology explores the more subtle ways in which prejudice can manifest itself in perceptions of ideological distance, and can create hurdles for descriptive Latino representation.
