The present study focuses on the unique structural elements used by the composer in his three surviving Requiem Masses, demonstrating some of the composer's sophisticated architectural designs. The question of authorship of the Requiem Mass in F Major (CT 190) formerly attributed to Jose Mauricio Nunes Garcia, but found to be by another Brazilian composer, Damiao Barbosa de Araujo (1778--1856), is also discussed.
