One cannot ignore the global and national issues that help create such an unfavorable climate for many Kisumu District residents. Furthermore, attitudes by individuals and communities help shape AIDS-related experiences locally. It is clear that issues of empowerment and entitlement especially influenced AIDS protective behaviors. The research formed linkages between behavioral science and social science. The thesis asserts that everyday people responded to the disease in their own ways and condom use was clearly not the answer.
