Changes in the competitive regimes and entrepreneurial activity was identified using a combination of qualitative and quantitative analysis. On the basis of shifts in industry principles, regulations and norms three different regimes were identified. Entrepreneurship was examined in two different ways---the rate of entry of new firms and the type of entry. Significant differences were seen between regimes in both the rate and type of entry suggesting that entrepreneurship within an industry does shift over time based on changes in the competitive environment. Furthermore, major changes can be predicted using the concept of competitive regimes.","abstract_html":"This project focused on how regimes of competition affect entrepreneurial activity in the United States brokerage industry from 1965 to 1996.
