Additional validation of the model has been obtained by considering the new oxidizer HNF. Comparison of predictions for HNF combustion with a wide range of experimental observations including steady regression rate (pressure, temperature, and radiant flux sensitivities), surface temperature, and linear frequency response to radiation shows good agreement. Results indicate that HNF condensed-phase decomposition is overall slightly exothermic (increasing with pressure) with activation energy similar to that for proton transfer between hydrazinium and nitroformate ions. The gas-phase flame is highly exothermic with low activation energy, suggesting the gas-phase process is more like a low energy-barrier, chain-carrier process than a high-energy thermal process, similar to what has been suggested recently for NC/NG and HMX.","abstract_html":"The low gas-activation-energy WSB model is used to model the nonlinear unsteady combustion of energetic solids.
