The presence or absence of assessment uncertainty information in hypothetical risk scenarios did not affect average levels of perceived risk, but, when asked to consider tradeoffs between risks and social/monetary benefits, the relation between environmental concern and perceived risk was strongly moderated by the type of assessment uncertainty information presented. Implications for risk polarization and conflict are discussed.","abstract_html":"In the second study, individual differences in context-specific attitudes were shown to moderate the influence of assessment uncertainty information on environmental risk perception.
