Unlike conventional methods, boundary controllers guarantee large signal stability. In this dissertation, a deep analysis of boundary control implementation was conducted to transform the established boundary control theory into a practical control technique. Gain selection criteria, effects of reactive loads and robustness issues have been addressed. A suite of benchmark converters designed with conventional analysis was proposed for simulation and comparison. Boundary controlled converters that meet the same specifications as the benchmark converters were also proposed. All converters were simulated and implemented in hardware. Finally, a comparison of boundary control and conventional analysis was made by comparing the hardware implementation results.","abstract_html":"Boundary control is a geometrically based design technique that uses the state trajectories of a dc-dc converter to formulate a control law that defines the state of the active switch in the converter.
