The efforts divide into three thrusts: (1) digital control system analysis, (2) design of IC-based digital controller, and (3) implementation and testing of the design. As for digital control system analysis, a time-invariant modeling concept is introduced by including switching frequency and sampling frequency. In digital controller design, two most important aspects that are covered are: (1) a multi-port single controller and (2) a digital phase modulator. These control techniques cannot be implemented in an analog controller. This shows that certain digital control techniques are suitable for specific functions that are not achievable or too expensive in analog.
