Critical to the study was the ability of the building principal to adapt, lead, and survive the change process. Attention was placed on the perspectives of the school administrator, as the key change agent, attempting to implement steps necessary to achieve unitary status while maintaining a necessary fix on school improvement. School districts undergoing rapid change are notorious for using, abusing and losing administrators.
