Data from the students was collected by means of journals, writing assignments, class discussion, interviews, and conferences. Other data was collected via teacher reflection on the events of the classroom. The results indicated that use of integrated reading and writing assignments in a relaxed classroom format which promoted problem-posing situations and critical thinking was perceived successful from the perspective of the students and the teacher.
