Characteristics of innovations and the process of diffusion described by Rogers (2003) were used to study the factors that promote or hinder implementation of PBIS. Participants from four elementary school PBIS teams were interviewed regarding their perceptions about PBIS as a program and the implementation process. Results of the interviews suggested factors associated with PBIS as a program as well as those related to the organizational capability of schools to accommodate the approach impacted effectiveness of implementation.","abstract_html":"The purpose of this study was to examine factors related to successful and unsuccessful implementation of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports, a school-wide positive behavior management approach.
