Variables of social support and alienation were identified to be additional variables of interest in fully understanding the relationship between acculturation and psychological distress. Acculturation was defined to be a two dimensional construct, composed of the Asian and American dimension, as operationalized by the Acculturation Scale for Asians. A strong relationship was indicated between social support, alienation, and psychological distress. The results indicate extremely high levels of psychological distress and its close relationship to social support and alienation.
